About Us |
|
Our Banner The blue banner hanging in the Chapel was made for the 1994 Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Caravanners and Campers Christian Fellowship. Designed and created by Fiona Maggs, the banner was based on the song ‘Bind us together.’ At the end of the CCCF celebration rally, the banner was acquired by Elizabeth Groves and presented to the Chapel. It had blessed her at CCCF and she wanted it to encourage people back at her home church at Falcon Lodge. At the centre of the design are four pairs of figures with joined hands. God’s design for mankind is to share in one-to-one relationship just as God himself desires a one-to-one relationship with us through Jesus Christ. The joining of hands is symbolic of help and support – when we walk through dangerous and perilous times and places, it is reassuring to be able to hold on to someone else. When we become weak or frail, it is good to be supported by a stronger hand. |

Where hands are joined, the outline of the arms and bodies forms a heart shape symbolising love one for another. Only when the hands are joined are the heart shapes completed, reminding us that expressions of love without action are only shallow words. Each pair of figures faces a different direction recognising that we each have different roles in life facing out towards a 360 degree world around us. We can also have differing perspectives of the same God and the ways in which we worship Him. All the figures have feet pointed towards the centre at which we see the outline of a Celtic cross. This reminds us of the importance of the centrality of our faith – rooted and grounded on the firm foundation that is Jesus Christ our Lord. The chain design around the edge has no beginning and no end, reminding us that in our salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, we are surrounded and protected by the eternal and perfect love of God. |
